Smart use of Energy
Used correctly, a smart plug will decrease an electric bill. First the amount of energy a smart plug consumes is negligible. Secondly a smart plug will cut power to whatever is plugged into it when turned off. Find an appliance that has a standby mode causing it to always use power and plug it into a smart plug. Then set up a schedule for the smart plug to only allow power to the appliance during the times it is used. Soon enough the smart plug will have paid for itself and then some.
