A smart hub is the central device that enables all the different products (thermostats, door locks, garage door openers, lights, thermostats, etc.) to work together in a smart home. A hub isn’t required to use individual smart devices, but if you want to truly integrate the behavior of the various smart devices in your home it is a worthwhile investment, especially if you are blending devices from a bunch of different manufacturers.
